Full Day Touring Ideas

Inverewe Gardens, Ullapool, and West Coast (approx. 8 hours)

Primarily a day of very spectacular scenery, both in terms of landscapes around areas such as Glen Dochery, and Torridon, as well as the incredible Atlantic Seascapes that follow after reaching the village of Gairloch. There are a number of places to stop off and visit including the small town of Ullapool, though the main visit for many is the amazing Gardens at Inverewe.

Loch Ness, Beauly, Culloden Battlefield, Cawdor Castle etc., etc. (Approx. 8 hours)

The town of Inverness is the centre of and area that has a great deal to offer. Even without its "Monster" nearby Loch Ness is well worth a visit. The village of Beauly is also worth stopping off at, not least for some interesting shopping. From prehistory at Clava's ancient Standing Stones to the 14th Century Cawdor Castle, then on to more recent times (well, 1746 to be precise) at Culloden Battlefield you begin to understand what shaped the Highlands, and the people who live here.

The Isle of Skye (approx. 10 hours)
There are surely few who could not be impressed by the scenery on this Island, not to mention the routes on the journey to, and from Inverness. The magnificent Cuillen Hills alone are, for some people, worth the journey. The Island of course has much more to offer including Dunvegan Castle (the ancient seat of the Clan Macleod), not to mention the (MacDonald) Clan Donald Centre. Among many other sights, and places of interest would be Eilean Donan Castle, which due to its picturesque location, is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland.
